Who is it for

This ASTD Certificate Programme is for trainers, or anyone who is involved in or has responsibility for the delivery of learning and development interventions in organisations.

What is it about

Whether you consider yourself a consultant or not, chances are that you use consulting skills. If you are involved in training, learning, and performance, you will continue to be drawn into a more consultative role. It could be a project closely related to training, such as designing a custom programme; or it could take the form of a project, such as developing and implementing a leadership succession plan for your organisation.

Course Overview

This course will provide you with an overview of ASTD’s '5-D' model for consulting to address these types of project, from the time you are contacted through to the final stages.

Collaborating in small groups, you’ll

  • follow a case study from start to finish
  • apply skills to consulting scenarios
  • solve problems
  • role-play meetings
  • try out checklists
  • make decisions just as consultants do every day.

The programme will also help you identify your areas of strength and need, and allow time for you to create a personal development plan to become a better consultant.
